Dear Fellow Organic Garden Lover,

Are you putting off starting an organic because you don’t know where to begin or you don’t have time to learn how?  Do you get overwhelmed by the formidable volume of information, techniques and organic methods available?  Are you finally ready to learn the basic concepts that will set you on the path to a sustainable organic garden?

My name is Hank Cranston-Moore, affectionately known at the Organic Garden Wiz, and I have recently put together a list of essential questions and answers that will turn any wannabe horticulturalist into a successful organic gardener!

But more on that in a moment.

Not too long ago I was in the same position you probably find yourself in today.  I liked the idea of organic gardening, but I didn’t know where to start or what I could grow.  And the vast amount of data available on the topic made my head spin!  I also found it intimidating to speak with experienced gardeners mostly because I didn’t want to sound ignorant or take up too much of their day.

So many times I said to myself “I’m really going to do this” only to put the idea on the back-burner.

I knew there just had to be a way to distill the whole of the information down a few basic concepts that would provide me with a roadmap to finally start my garden!  Without the right preparation and knowledge, I knew my project could turn into a disaster!

So I started to explore gardening magazines, books and the internet to collect as much information as I could on the subject.  It was a cumbersome task that took many hours and sometimes left me even more confused.  I became so frustrated at one point that I nearly gave up on the whole project.

After going on this way for many months, I started to see that some topics kept popping up repeatedly in the various places I searched.  I figured they must be important, so I started to organize the information I found on index cards by category.  Very quickly I was able to distinguish between the useful information and the absolutely essential.  Things were finally starting to become clear.

Eventually I gained the confidence to speak with experienced gardeners as I now knew what to ask and what I needed to know.  I carefully put everything they told me into my growing collection of index cards arranged by category.

After I achieved success with my garden, I began sharing my index cards with friends who were looking to start their own gardens or improve the ones they already had.  Pretty soon everyone was calling me the Organic Garden Wiz, although sometimes I felt more like the Organic Garden Librarian!

The category system I set up made it easy to provide necessary facts without overloading anyone with non-essential info.  It worked so well I began thinking there must be countless other people as frustrated as I was when starting an organic garden that could benefit from the knowledge I accumulated on those little cards.

I spent many long hours condensing the expanse of information contained on those bulky cards into an easy to understand step-by-step reference, including only the essential topics anyone would need to start an organic garden.
